A 34-year-old Ceres driver was arrested for DUI Thursday evening after he nearly struck a Ceres Police vehicle head-on in the 3300 block of Central Avenue.

After the near miss at approximately 11:05 p.m., the driver of a gray Honda Accord was stopped near Hackett Road and Central Avenue. Officer Matthew Myers conducted a DUI investigation of Angel Sanchez and arrested him for drunken driving and driving without a license. A breath sample provided by Sanchez at the scene indicated that he was well over the legal limit, driving with a blood alcohol content of over a .20. Sanchez was booked into the local jail and his vehicle was impounded.
