A 52-year Modesto man who was involved in a two-car collision in Ceres on Halloween was arrested DUI and possession of cocaine.

At 5:46 p.m. Sunday, Officer Matthew Myers was dispatched to a car of two vehicles on Crows Landing Road near the El Rematito Flea Market. The caller who reported the crash believed that the driver of a red Chevy Cruze appeared to be intoxicated.

Officer Myers contacted that driver, Juan Cordova, 52, of Modesto, and also believed him to be drunk. After a DUI investigation confirmed the inebriation, Cordova was arrested for DUI. He later blew into the breathalyzer to indicate that his blood alcohol content was over double the legal limit to drive a vehicle.

During a search, Officer Myers located a folded dollar bill in Cordova’s front pocket which contained a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. Officer Myers also located a folded dollar bill in Cordova’s wallet, which contained the same powdery substance.

Cordova was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for DUI and possession of cocaine.
