Driver of stolen car arrested
Ceres Cop Car

A citizen's Nov. 9 call to police about two suspicious people sitting in a gray-colored Honda Civic at the McDonalds at Hatch and Mitchell ended with one of the men being arrested for auto theft.

The citizen called 911 at 9:55 p.m. and gave the license number which traced back to a car stolen from a Turlock address. When police arrived the car was abandoned but a search of the area turned up a man who matched the description given by the citizen. Transient Jose Raya, 32, was stopped near Wing Stop on Hatch Road where the witness positively identified him as the driver of the stolen Honda.

Raya was charged with auto theft, possession of stolen property and parole violation.

The other man was not located.
