Driver of stolen vehicle faces multiple charges
Ceres Cop Car

Multiple criminal complaints are being filed against a 32-year-old Hickman resident who was stopped in Ceres on Wednesday afternoon, March 16 by Officer Ross Bays.

Bays was on patrol at 1:42 p.m. in the area of Hatch Road and Herndon Avenue when he spotted a maroon-colored Dodge pickup reported stolen. When the officer activated his red lights, the suspect, Stephanie Howrey, 32, of Hickman, pulled over into the parking lot of the Dollar Store. Howrey was found in possession of shaved vehicle keys, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.

Howrey was arrested and booked for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, being a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of burglary tools, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. As she was being booked in the County Jail, Howrey was found with an additional baggie of methamphetamine concealed in her bra, which netted her final charge of attempting to smuggle a controlled substance into the jail.
