Ceres Police arrested a driver so intoxicated that he fell asleep behind the wheel and blocked traffic on Hatch Road near Mitchell Road Sunday evening.

Dispatchers received a number of calls at 9:59 p.m. about a white car blocking traffic. Officers arrived and found Jose Serna-Gomez, 36, of Modesto, passed out behind the steering wheel. They noticed he was extremely intoxicated, said department spokesman Lt. James Yandell, and unable to complete field sobriety tests. Serna-Gomez was arrested for DUI. He requested a blood draw and was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center once it was completed. Serna-Gomez was booked for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and driving with a blood alcohol content above .08 percent.
