A 42-year-old Stockton man was apprehended after he led a Ceres Police officer on a chase from Ceres to the Arch Road area of Stockton on Sunday morning.
At 6:02 a.m., Officer Eric Souza was on patrol on northbound Highway 99 approaching the Fourth Street off-ramp when a Mercedes E350 approached from behind him at a high rate of speed. A check of the license plate revealed it was a stolen vehicle. Driving the stolen Mercedes was Joseph Galindo who continued speeding as Officer Souza attempted to stop the vehicle.
A pursuit was initiated which led officers through the south part of Modesto before Galindo steered back onto northbound Highway 99. The pursuit ended when the suspect’s two front tires became flat as it took the Arch Road exit in Stockton. Galindo ran from the vehicle into the bathroom at the AM/PM station located at 4855 Golden State Highway in Stockton where officers apprehended him.
Galindo was on felony probation and had two felony warrants for his arrest with charges to include burglary and possession of stolen property. A search of the vehicle yielded over an ounce of methamphetamine and over seven grams of suspected fentanyl. Galindo was arrested and booked for vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, evading police in a vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl and the felony warrants for his arrest.
