Drug arrest made in stop for expired registration

 A 25-year-old Ceres woman was arrested for drug possession and lying to police about name when she was pulled over Tuesday, Jan. 21 for expired car registration.

At 1:51 a.m., Officer Eric Gallegos conducted a traffic stop at Myrtlewood and Ridgeway on Gabriella Rijfkogel, 25, of Ceres. She initially provided her sister’s name as her own.

Rijfkogel was found to be in possession of heroin. Officer Christian Izquierdo arrived to assist and recognized Rijfkogel and confronted her about her identity claim. Rijfkogel admitted giving her sister’s name. She was found to have two felony warrants for providing false information to a Modesto Police officer.

Rijfkogel was arrested on charges of providing a false name to a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, probation violations and the warrants.

Her passenger, Arthur Salinas, 53, of Modesto, was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of the Modesto Police Department for DUI. He was cited and released for his warrant.
