Seventy-one grams of marijuana was a parole violation that landed parolee Travis Tauaran, 32, in jail early Thursday morning.

At 12:08 a.m. new Ceres officer Tom Miller spotted a blue Ford Explorer traveling on River Road that was being driven erratically. Miller followed the Ford but lost sight of it. He got to Oak Ridge Court and saw a black male walking out of the court away from the vehicle. About the same time, a resident called police to report seeing two suspicious men crouching down and one attempting to get into her backyard.

Miller seized Tauaran on a parole hold.

In another drug-related incident, a meth pipe landed a man in jail.

Reports of a man sleeping on the grass in Independence Park with a handgun on his chest led police to make an arrest on May 19.

Charles Powell, 28, of Modesto, was found not with a real gun but with a realistic looking gun that was a B-B gun. Police arrested Powell, however, after he was found with a meth pipe, which is a violation of his probation.

The arrest was at 6:35 p.m.
