A Ceres man who was on searchable probation was stopped and searched Thursday evening and found with suspected methamphetamine.

At 10 p.m. Officer Nicolas Welch noticed a man and woman pushing bicycles in the parking lot behind the Rite Aid store on Mitchell Road and stopped to see what they were up to. Matthew Smith, 29, of Ceres was searched and found with the drugs. Smith was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
