A 38-year-old transient man was arrested late Friday after he was spotted trespassing inside the Hatch Road building once occupied by the Rancho San Miguel market.

An Ontel Security officer found Michael Vanwert, 38, inside the business after discovering a door was ajar and appeared to have been forced open. Police were called out and at 11:38 p.m, Officer Jeffery Godfrey and backup officers arrived and found Vanwert in possession of suspected methamphetamine. Vanwert was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on charges of burglary and possession of an illegal substance.
