DUI arrest made after crash in north Ceres

A Monday, Oct. 19 pursuit of a drunken driver ended when the suspect crashed into a pole and two parked vehicles in north Ceres.

At 11:52 p.m. Officer Jesus Salinas stopped a vehicle near Herndon and Eugene avenues but the driver took off into the Tyrus Street area. As he was driving at a high rate of speed the driver lost control and hit a pole and vehicles. Arunesh Lal, 28, of Modesto, was detained and determined to be intoxicated. Lal had his driver's license suspended for a prior DUI conviction. He was charged with leading police on a pursuit, DUI, and driving on a DUI suspension.

Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. James Yandell said the three vehicles sustained minor damage.
