A 40-year-old Modesto man was arrested for DUI Friday evening after citizen reports that he was driving recklessly.

At 8:11 p.m., Officer Matthew Johnson responded to Burger King at 1421 Hatch Road for the report of a reckless driver in a sedan who had damaged the car and was sitting inside of it in front of the restaurant. Officer Johnson spoke to driver Duarte Silveira who appeared to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested for DUI, and later submitted a breath sample that showed his blood alcohol content was over double the legal limit for an adult to drive. Silveira was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for DUI.
