DUI suspect crashes into house, boy inside hurt

A boy was injured Wednesday morning, March 6 when an alleged drunk driver ran his pickup into the house in the 3400 block of Central Avenue.

The juvenile was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

The crash happened moments after someone called 911 at 12:29 a.m. to report a man driving recklessly in a red-colored pickup in the area of Service Road and Central Avenue. Officers were responding to search for the driver when the dispatch center received a call about a red-colored Toyota Tundra rolling over into a house at Central Avenue and Pine Street.

Officer Charles Lord-Huff arrived and contacted the driver, Lerin Maldonado Lopez, 21, of North Highlands. A strong odor of alcohol was on his breath and he displayed the signs of being intoxicated.

Lopez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of DUI resulting in an injury.
