A 46-year-old Modesto woman who was arrested early Sunday in Ceres for DUI charges also was discovered to be carrying around pepper spray, which is for illegal for her to possess as a felon.
At 2:39 a.m., Officer Kevin Roseen was assisting in a deadly traffic collision investigation in the 2700 block of Mitchell Road. After officers stopped a Nissan Armada for a vehicle code violation, Officer Roseen spoke to driver Shaelyn Adams, 46, of Modesto and noticed that she displayed signs and symptoms of someone under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Field sobriety tests indicated that Adams was intoxicated and later a breath sample showed that she was over the legal limit of alcohol.
A search of Adams’ vehicle, turned up a small canister of pepper spray which she cannot possess due to prior convictions. Adams was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for DUI and possession of the pepper spray.
