Driving around in a car with expired registration tags proved to be the undoing of a 39-year-old Empire man who had two outstanding arrest warrants and who was driving on a suspended license for a prior DUI incident.

Arturo Serrano, 39, of Empire was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center by Officer Krandall Vandagriff. The officer spotted the expired tag on the Volkswagen at 3:07 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19.
