Ceres Cop Car

A traffic stop for vehicle code violations in the parking lot of the Hatch Road AM/PM on Wednesday, March 1 resulted in the passenger being arrested for possessing a loaded .22 caliber handgun and the driver arrested for two active felony warrants for his arrest.

At 9:01 p.m. Officer Krandall Vandagriff checked the activity inside the 2001 Jaguar. A records check on the four occupants indicated that 28-year-old driver Juan Espinoza had two active felony warrants for his arrest. Three additional Ceres Police officers arrived to assist.

Prior to having the car towed, Vandagriff searched the car and found a stainless steel .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun under the front passenger seat. The gun had a magazine loaded with five bullets. Marcus Osegueda, 19, of Modesto, admitted the gun; he was arrested and charged with possession of a loaded concealed handgun.

Espinoza was charged with $201,000 in warrants for armed robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
