Four teens arrested for auto theft
Ceres Cop Car

Four juveniles ranging from 15 to 17 years old were arrested Wednesday afternoon when they were apprehended in a stolen 1998 Honda Civic.

All four were arrested for vehicle theft, possession of a stolen property and resisting or obstructing a police officer. Two were booked into juvenile hall while the other two were cited and released to parents.

At 12:13 p.m. Officer Dirk Nieuwenhuis spotted the stolen vehicle - reported stolen earlier in the day from a residence in the 1600 block of Stephanie Way - being driven on Blaker Road at Kinser Road. Nieuwenhuis initiated a traffic stop when more units arrived but the driver sped onto southbound Central Avenue to eastbound Service Road to Mitchell Road. The car cut across a dirt field in an attempt to to get on northbound Highway 99 from Mitchell. The driver lost control of the Honda and went off the side of the overpass. Officer Nieuwenhuis blocked the Honda car from moving and four suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot. After a short foot chase all four were caught.

One of the suspects was a girl, said Lt. James Yandell.
