Jose Arana
Jose Arana

A lot of folks cut loose on Friday heading into the weekend but 39-year-old Modestan Jose Arana learned the hard way Friday that drinking and driving is not a wise thing to do. He was stopped for erratic driving by a Ceres Police officer and arrested on DUI charges.

Ceres Police Officer Juan Ramos was westbound on Hatch Road at Moffet Road at 10:59 p.m. when he saw Arana weave between lanes in his red Dodge Dart. Ramos stopped the car at Hatch Road and Jim Way and noticed that Arana appeared to be under the influence of alcohol/ and or drugs. Field sobriety tests were performed by Arana and he completed them consistent with someone under the influence of alcohol. Arana submitted to a breath test which showed he had more alcohol in his system than the law allowed. Arana was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
