Two men arrested during a Nov. 14 car stop in Ceres face a number of charges.
Officer Christian Izquierdo was patrolling the area of Hatch and Herndon roads at 12:20 p.m. when he stopped the driver of a Chevrolet Colorado for vehicle code violations.
During a check of their drivers’ licenses, the officer learned that driver Eric Capalinda, 27, of Gustine, was wanted on a felony warrant for a prior hit-and-run crash. As he was being arrested, the officer spotted a gun under the driver’s seat. The firearm was determined to be a “ghost gun” that had a loaded magazine.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located 10 vacuum-sealed bags that each contained a pound of marijuana.
Capalinda was arrested for the warrant, carrying a loaded firearm in public, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of marijuana for sales.
His passenger, Jesus Cruz, 21, of Ceres, was arrested for conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of marijuana for sales and the warrant for his arrest.
Both were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
