A 39-year-old Modesto female felon was arrested in the 2100 block of Hatch Road on Tuesday, Jan. 18 when the car she was pulled over in proved to be stolen – with a gun inside.

At 9:52 a.m., Ceres Police Sgt. Dirk Nieuwenhuis stopped a green 2000 Honda Civic that had been stolen in Patterson. Driver Laura Shackleton, 39, of Modesto was arrested as a search of the car turned up a firearm with no serial numbers, and high-capacity magazine and ammunition, in her purse along. As a felon, Shackleton is prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm or ammunition.

She was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property and possession of an undetectable firearm.
