High-speed car pursuit terminated

Police officers terminated a vehicle pursuit of a speeder on the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 3 because things had the potential to get someone hurt or killed.

At 11:12 p.m .an officer attempted to stop a tan Honda Civic seen speeding in the 1800 block of Hatch Road. The driver ignored the officer and accelerated eastbound on Hatch Road. The pursuit reached speeds of 90 mph and above as the chase approached the intersection of Hatch and Mitchell roads. Officers backed off for safety reasons but then lost sight of the Honda as the lights were turned off by the driver neat Faith Home Road.

The car was later found and determined to be a car that had been stolen but not yet reported as stolen.

Police have no suspects and are asking the public to call in tips to Ceres Police at 538-5713.
