Two men were arrested Wednesday afternoon, April 18 outside a home in the 1600 block of Evans Road which they just burglarized, said Ceres Police Department spokesman Lt. James Yandell.
Police dispatchers received a tip at 1:38 p.m. about a possible burglary in progress by two men who had arrived in a Chevy Blazer pulling a trailer and climbed the fence into the backyard. Officer Krandall Vandagriff arrived and found the two suspects sitting inside the Chevy. One of them provided a false name. Both subjects were eventually identified as Craig Crum, 32, of Ceres, and Jeremy Johnson, 45, of Modesto.
Officers found that a door to the home had been kicked open with shoe prints on the door that matched the shoes worn by Craig and Jeremy. Officers also located a witness who identified Craig and Jeremy as entering the house. Officers discovered Craig and Jeremy had been at the residence earlier and had stolen a microwave and staged other items in the house to be removed. Both men were booked for burglary and conspiracy. Johnson was also booked for a felony warrant from the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department.
