Police arrested Brandon Cooksey, 44, of Ceres, on charges that he robbed the AM/PM mini mart store at Mitchell and Service roads on June 14.

On Wednesday, July 2 officers were dispatched to the same store by a clerk who positively recognized Cooksey as the man who robbed the store last month with a handgun. Store surveillance video also identified Cooksey as the man.

On June 14 the robber walked into the store at 5:55 p.m. armed with a handgun aimed at the clerk. He demanded cash and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect rode away on a bicycle westbound on Service Road. Police did not find the man but a canine was able to locate the bike as well as the black beanie cap and black jacket he was wearing during the crime.

The suspect was described as a white male of thin build with a beard.

In other police cases, a man who was acting strangely and beating his head against the window at the Chevron station at Mitchell and Service roads was arrested on Friday morning.

Transient Michael Dye, 35, appeared to be under the influence of a substance and was arrested at 8 a.m. for warrants for possession of marijuana.
