Police are investigating an early-morning July 9 burglary of cartons of cigarettes from a store after someone broke the front door to get inside.

The commercial burglary occurred at Stop & Shop Beer and Wine liquor store in the 1500 block of Whitmore Avenue.

A burglar alarm went off at the store at 4:51 a.m.

In other crimes, the following case was reported:

• SON ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT - Cesar Tovar, 36, of Ceres, faces charges of false imprisonment and assault on his mother during a Monday domestic fight in the 3500 block Havenwood Way.
