A Modesto man was arrested Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 2 for allegedly threatening to show up at a Ceres residence and shoot the occupants.

The threats were reported at 1:35 p.m. in the 2900 block of Aster Court. Officers arrived in the area. Sgt. Vince Hooper saw a green vehicle rapidly leaving the court when he arrived and quickly made an investigative stop on the car. As he was doing so, updated information was provided that the suspect had driven by the residence in a green vehicle.

The driver, Jose Bautista, 25, of Modesto, initially provided a fictitious name to Sgt. Hooper but eventually admitted his true identity. The residents in the targeted home confirmed that Bautista was the suspect. Police said the threats stemmed from an on again, off again relationship with one of the occupants. The alleged threat was made during a verbal argument over the phone.

Bautista was arrested and booked for making terroristic threats.
