A Hughson man is under arrest on suspicion of attempted murder after stabbing a woman multiple times in Modesto.

Raymond Amador, 29, was taken into custody Sunday at his Hughson home by the Modesto Police Department and the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department, following an early morning attack that left a 32-year-old woman in critical condition at an area hospital.

The attack was reported by the victim's mother at 4:45 a.m. Sunday.

Responding officers learned that the 32-year-old victim had been stabbed multiple times in the head and back area while sitting in the suspect's car in front of her residence. The victim managed to escape from the car before the suspect fled the area and was able to seek help from her mother who was inside the home.

It's believed Amador was the victim's boyfriend. Amador was located in Hughson and taken into custody without incident.
