Machete earns driver trip to jail
Ceres Cop Car

A Saturday afternoon traffic stop on a car traveling in the 1000 block of Sonora Avenue of south Modesto landed a Ceres man in jail when the officer found him sitting atop a large machete concealed in a cloth.

Officer Justin Canatsy conducted the traffic stop on Nathan Serpa, 21, of Ceres, at 3:38 p.m. Serpa was on Post Release Controlled Supervision (PRCS), a program adopted by Gov. Jerry Brown to release lower-level offenders from state prison. Serpa was charged with possession of a deadly weapon and violation of Post Release Controlled Supervision.
