A 31-year-old Ceres man was arrested Tuesday evening, March 26 after a police officer saw him throw a rock at a parked vehicle in the area of Laurel and Central avenues.

Officer Jesus Salinas was patrolling the area at 10:52 p.m. when he saw Juan Dominguez, 31, of Ceres, running south on Central near Walnut avenues and throw a rock at a vehicle. Dominguez then ran up to the car and punched the driver’s side window to shatter it. Officer Salinas went after Dominguez with lights and siren activated. Dominguez ran up onto the sidewalk, turned to face the approaching patrol car and put his hands up and began jumping up and down, as if challenging the officer to fight him.

Officer Salinas deployed his police canine Veko but held onto the collar as he ordered Dominguez to the ground. Dominguez complied and was arrested.

The owner of the damaged car wanted Dominguez, who was intoxicated, to be arrested. He was booked into the Public Safety Center for vandalism and public intoxication.
