A suspicious looking man who was stopped by an officer produced a B-B gun from his waistband and immediately found himself drawn on in a harrowing police incident on Monday afternoon, Nov. 2.
Officer Justin Canatsy was on patrol in the area of Nadine Avenue and Herndon Road at 3:31 p.m. when he observed pedestrian Ramon Melgoza, 24, of Ceres, acting suspiciously. Canatsy approached Melgoza and asked if he had anything illegal on him. Melgoza reached behind his back and produced what appeared to be a regular handgun. Officer Canatsy drew his firearm and ordered Melgoza to drop the gun as the suspect yelled, "It's just a B-B gun!"
Melgoza was handcuffed and found to have warrants for his arrest due to several outstanding drug charges.
