Man asleep in car at gas pumps arrested for drugs

A 35-year-old Modesto man with a criminal history was arrested in Ceres early Wednesday, Sept. 16 for drug possession.

At 4:42 a.m. Ceres Police Officers Eric Souza and Matthew Myers were sent to the Chevron gas station regarding a man passed out in a vehicle parked at the fuel pump for over an hour. Officer Souza approached and saw Michael Morford, 35, of Modesto, asleep. Drug paraphernalia was lying in sight on the floorboard and on the center console. Morford was awakened and a search of his vehicle yielded nearly two and a half ounces of suspected methamphetamine, over four grams of suspected cocaine and just over five and half ounces of heroin. Morford was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance for sales, transportation of a controlled substance and possession of narcotics for sales.

In September 2016 Morford was arrested for a Modesto carjacking in the 1600 block of Timothy Avenue.
