Ceres Police arrested and booked a 24-year-old Ceres man Saturday evening for battery and for being under the influence of drugs.

According to Ceres Police Sgt. Greg Yotsuya, at 11:15 p.m. officers were dispatched to Hatch and Mitchell roads area for reports of a white man wearing a black trench coat with nothing underneath. Officer Kevin Sakasegawa found the suspect, Patrick Moore, near the Professional Auto Stereo and Security at 1520 Mitchell Road. Moore began walking away from the patrol unit towards Mitchell Road then started running westbound.

Moore ran through the parking lot of Starbucks and then into the Voyager’s Cove Mobile Home Park on Hatch Road. Officer Adam Hall arrived to help find Moore who was hiding in a shed. Because Moore appeared to be high under the influence of drugs he was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

During this time dispatchers learned that prior to reaching Voyager’s Cove, Moore had punched a 23-year-old Starbucks employee who was outside on a break in the groin. The employee did complained of pain and wanted to press charges for assault.

Because Moore had to be treated at the hospital Officer Sakasegawa filed criminal charges with the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s for misdemeanor battery and drug influence.
