Ceres Cop Car

Gurpreet Singh, 49, of Ceres, will be charged with DUI and hit and run after he allegedly drove his Lincoln Navigator into three parked vehicles early Monday morning in the 1200 block of Tranquil Lane and then fled the scene.

Ceres Police Department spokesman Lt. Chris Perry said that a witness to the crash followed Singh's Lincoln until he collided into two additional parked vehicles in the 3700 block of Bing Lane. Officer Carlos Villalobos responded to the 12:39 a.m. call to 911 and investigated. Singh's left leg shin was bleeding and he was unable to stand. Singh's breath also had an odor of an alcoholic beverage, his speech was impaired and his eyes were red and watery. Singh, who was unable to perform any type of field sobriety test, was attended to by paramedics and found with a dangerously elevated blood pressure. He was taken to a Modesto hospital where he told Officer Villalobos that he consumed two "shots" of alcohol and two beers and admitted to driving his Lincoln Navigator and crashing into several vehicles. He told police that he continued driving because he was "scared."
