Man fatally shot in Keyes

A man was shot and killed in Keyes Friday evening, prompting an investigation by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.

The dead man was identified as Modesto resident Juan Aranda, 23. No arrests have yet to be made.

It was the second homicide in Keyes within 14 weeks. Evan Robinson, 16, had been shot near the taco truck at Martha Avenue and 7th Street in Keyes on May 2.

The shooting in the 4700 block of Isabella Avenue in Keyes was reported at 11:35 p.m. Deputies and medical personnel responded for the report of a male bleeding. When they arrived, Aranda was found suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Sheriff’s Crimes against Persons unit and the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene and began their investigations.
