Man frightening customers arrested due to intoxication

A visibly intoxicated 51-year-old man resisted arrest on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 19, after police were called about his scary behavior in front of the Save Mart store.

A heavily intoxicated Eduardo Gandara, 51, of Los Angeles, was seen pacing in front of the store at 7:08 p.m. and making customers feel uneasy. A store employee flagged down an officer who made contact with Gandara, who had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on him. The officer offered Gandara a ride home but Gandara refused to give an address, saying he was evicted due to his drinking problem. Because Gandara was too intoxicated to be left in a public place, the officer told Gandara he would be taken into custody until he could sober up. Gandara then tried to run in the direction of the Bank of America. The officer forced Gandara to the ground where he fought arrest. He refused medical attention at the scene and was transported to jail where he was booked for obstruction and public intoxication.
