Man in canal with dogs arrested
Ceres Cop Car

A man who decided to cool off with his dogs in the TID Main Canal on Friday afternoon had to be assisted to get out but was then arrested for trespassing.

Police received a 3:08 p.m. call about Jason Brown, 40, of Ceres, being in the canal in the 1900 block of Hatch Road with several dogs and having a hard time getting out. Ceres Police Department spokesman Lt. Chris Perry said while there was only a foot of water in the canal, Brown couldn't seem to get out because he was wet and the algae at the bottom and sides.

Perry said Brown, who was on parole, became combative for a brief period before calming down. He was arrested for trespassing and a parole violation, and county Animal Control was called to take care of the three dogs.
