MAN IN STOLEN PICKUP LEADS POLICE ON CHASE BEFORE HIS ARREST
An auto theft suspect who was released from state prison early was arrested after he led Ceres Police on a high speed chase on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 9.
The incident began at approximately 5:09 p.m. when Officer Eric Souza was on patrol in the area of Railroad Avenue and Hackett Road and saw a grey-colored Chevrolet Silverado parked along the railroad tracks. As Officer Souza turned his patrol vehicle around, the driver of the Silverado, Sergio Rios, 52, of Ceres, sped off with Officer Souza in pursuit.
The chase wound through a residential area of Moffett and Don Pedro roads where the officer completed a successful pursuit intervention technique (PIT) maneuver.
Rios was arrested and through a records check, it was determined Rios was on active Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) and also had a license suspended for DUI.
The pickup turned out to be stolen.
Rios was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for evading police in a vehicle, driving the wrong way while evading, vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving on a license suspended for DUI, and a PRCS flash hold.
THREE WARRANTS LAND WOMAN IN JAIL
A 35-year-old Modesto woman was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 1 after she was stopped in her car by police and found to be wanted on three arrest warrants.
Ceres Police Officer Eric Souza was patrolling the 1300 block of Herndon Road at 7:33 p.m., when he stopped Tamikqua McNeal for committing vehicle code violations in a Mercedes SUV. Officer Souza learned that McNeal had three warrants, two of which were felony charges related to theft.
Officer Souza booked McNeal into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
MAN WANTED ON NARCOTIC CHARGES FOUND WITH MORE DRUGS
Thomas Bingham, 44, of Modesto was arrested by Ceres police on three warrants as well as possession of illegal narcotics on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
Bingham was apprehended at approximately 9:40 p.m., by Officer Eric Souza in the area of River and Bystrum roads. The officer saw Bingham leaving the River Road Market and recognized him as having the warrants for his arrest.
Bingham had two felony warrants for drug possession.
While searching Bingham, Officer Souza located a plastic baggy containing a white crystalline substance suspected of being methamphetamine.
Bingham was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for three warrants as well as possession of a controlled substance with two or more prior convictions.
70-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED ON DRUG WARRANT
Terrance Tapp, 70, of Ceres was arrested during a Sept. 6 traffic stop for vehicle code violations when it was learned that he had a felony warrant for his arrest related to narcotics.
Tapp was pulled over by Ceres Police Officer Kyle Hatcher at approximately 8 p.m. in the area of Hackett Road and Crown View Drive.
Tapp’s Dodge Ram was towed as he was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
ESCALON MAN FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES
A 52-year-old Escalon man faces a string of charges following his arrest during a Sunday, Sept. 6 traffic stop near downtown.
At approximately 1:44 a.m., Officer Roger Khuon was patrolling the area of El Camino Avenue and 9th Street when he stopped Antonio Arriola Vencez driving a Honda Odyssey. The officer observed a violation of the California Vehicle Code violations and when he approached the car window detected signs that Vencez was under influence of alcohol.
Another officer arrived to assist in a DUI investigation on Vencez, who initially provided a false name. Vencez was arrested for DUI and provided breath samples that were more than double the legal limit.
During a records check, it was determined that Vencez had a license that was suspended for DUI and had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest related to a traffic offense. While searching Vencez, Officer Garcia located a baggy containing a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine.
Vencez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of DUI, driving on a license suspended for DUI, providing officers with a false name, possession of a controlled substance and the misdemeanor warrant for his arrest.
ROBBERY WARRANT LANDS CERES MAN IN JAIL
A 27-year-old Ceres man with a pending charge of robbery was apprehended during a Tuesday, Sept. 8 traffic stop.
Officer Eric Souza was patrolling the area of Central and Pleasant avenues at 8:42 p.m. when he spotted Angel Prado Diaz, driving a blue-colored Volkswagen Jetta. Officer Souza knew him to have a felony warrant for his arrest related to a robbery. Officer Souza stopped the vehicle and arrested Prado Diaz.
Additionally, Prado Diaz was driving on a license suspended for DUI. Prado Diaz was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for the felony warrant and driving on a license suspended for DUI.
BICYCLIST FOUND WITH METH: CERES – Released from prison early under a state program, Dalton Scales, 27, of Modesto was arrested Sept. 8 after being stopped on his bicycle and found with a white crystalline substance suspected of being methamphetamine.
At approximately 9:14 p.m., Officer Gary Singh was patrolling the area of Herndon Road and Holm Avenue when he stopped Scales for vehicle code violations. Scales provided Officer Singh with a false name of another person. Officer Singh was able to identify Scales and during a record check and learned he was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) and had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. Scales was arrested for the warrant and impersonation of another person.
Scales was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for the misdemeanor warrant, false impersonation of another, possession of a controlled substance, and a PRCS flash hold.
CERES MAN JAILED FOR GUN IN CAR
A loaded handgun in his car landed Octavio Ibarra, 21, of Ceres in jail on Sunday evening.
At approximately 11:17 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Andy Oropeza was patrolling the area of Crows Landing and Hackett roads when he stopped Ibarra in a Lexus IS250 for vehicle code violations. Ibarra informed the officer that he was in possession of a firearm which was in a black bag around his torso. Ibarra was removed from the vehicle and the firearm, a loaded semi-automatic pistol, was recovered.
Ibarra was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle.
THREE ARRESTED IN DOUBLE STABBING CASE
Three persons were arrested in connection to a Tuesday evening, Sept. 1 altercation in the parking lot of the Pine Ridge Apartments that left two men with stab wounds.
Ceres Police dispatchers began receiving 911 calls at approximately 10:45 p.m. about a fight at 1301 Richland Avenue in which two persons were stabbed. Officers found the two men suffering from significant wounds and after initial medical aid was rendered they were rushed by ambulance to local area hospitals.
Officers located several males who appeared to be involved who were detained.
After reviewing surveillance video and interviewing witnesses, Ceres Police detectives arrested Edward Sisneroz, 18, of Modesto and two teenage boys. Their names were not because of a state law protecting the identities of minors.
Sisneroz was booked on charge of assault with great bodily injury at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
The two juveniles were also booked into the Stanislaus County Juvenile Detention Center on the same charge.
Police did not disclose the origin of the fight and subsequent stabbings.
Ceres Police Lt. Jeff Godfrey said both victims are in stable condition and recovering from the “violent assault.”

WOMAN JAILED ON THREE WARRANTS
A 35-year-old woman from Modesto was arrested during a Tuesday evening, Sept. 1 car stop because she had three warrants for her arrest, including two felonies related to theft.
The arrest came at 7:33 p.m. when Ceres Police Officer Eric Souza was patrolling the 1300 block of Herndon Road and stopped Tamikqua McNeal for vehicle code violations in her Mercedes SUV.
McNeal was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
DRIVER BOOKED ON DRUG CHARGES, WARRANTS
Possession of a plastic baggy containing a white crystalline substance suspected of being methamphetamine and three warrants landed Thomas Bingham, 44, of Modesto in jail on Tuesday evening, Sept. 1.
At approximately 9:40 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Eric Souza was patrolling the area of River and Bystrum roads when he recognized Bingham who was exiting the River Road Market and knew of his warrants.
Officer Souza stopped Bingham who had two felony arrest warrants related to the possession of narcotics was arrested. During a pat-down search the drugs were found.
Bingham was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the three warrants as well as possession of a controlled substance with two or more priors.
