Man injured in rural Keyes shooting
police tape

A 27-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening in a Monday afternoon confrontation.

At 12:55 p.m. Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 5000 block of Nunes Road near Keyes Road for an initial report of an argument between a man and woman. As deputies responded they further learned that a man was trying to enter the woman’s home where she was being attacked. The California Highway Patrol then received a report that a person was shot at the same location.

Deputies found the man in the driveway and suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Investigators are trying to locate the shooter as they do not believe the woman who called 911 is responsible for the shooting. She sustained minor injuries and was released from the scene.

The Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit is processing the scene for evidence.
