A 39-year-old Modesto man was arrested after he allegedly punched the mother of his children in the face during a Saturday domestic disturbance in a moving car.

Officer Jose Andrade was dispatched to the 1600 block of Graham Lane at 10:06 p.m. and found the victim with visible injuries to her face. The victim said while driving to her house she was in an argument with David Chavez, 39, of Modesto who became upset and punched her in the face. The victim called police as soon as they arrived at her home. Chavez fled on foot before Officer Andrade arrived. 

A few hours later, Chavez returned to the house where he was arrested. Chavez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of corporal punishment to a spouse/cohabitant.
