Man jailed after passing out in car under drug influence

A 39-year-old Modesto man seen driving his Dodge Journey erratically before pulling into a parking lot and passing out drugged, was arrested Saturday evening.

At 8:28 p.m. police dispatchers were called about the driver, Alexander Thomas Svoboda, 39, behaving erratically at the Quik Stop at 1301 E. Service Road. Officer Matthew Myers found Svoboda passed out leaning against the driver’s seat through the open driver’s door. Myers also noticed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and roused the suspect who showed signs and symptoms of someone under the influence of illegal drugs. After a DUI investigation, Officer Myers arrested Svoboda for driving under the influence of a drug and possession of heroin.
