Man jailed in DUI hit & run
Ceres Cop Car

A Ceres driver was jailed Sunday evening after he was caught while fleeing a broadside crash he allegedly caused while intoxicated.

The two-car fender bender crash was reported at 8:16 p.m. at Mitchell and Fowler roads. Ceres Police Department spokesman Lt. Chris Perry said that one of the drivers, Faustino Joaquin, 27, of Ceres, took off running northbound. Witnesses gave such an accurate description of the driver that a moment later police found Joaquin near Walmart. He was in possession of the keys to the vehicle in the crash and was brought back to the scene where he was positively identified as the driver.

Joaquin refused to undergo a field sobriety test so he was taken to a Modesto hospital for a blood draw to determine his level of intoxication.

Joaquin was arrested and booked on charges of DUI and hit and run.

Three occupants in the other car all complained of pain.
