Man shot in leg during drive-by
Ceres Cop Car

Police are hoping the public can provide clues that lead to the arrest of the suspect who shot a 59-year-old Ceres man in the leg as he walked down on Mitchell Road early Saturday morning.

The victim called police from the Cruisers station at Mitchell and Whitmore at 4:16 a.m. to say he had been shot by the passenger of a small blue car. Both men were described as white males and rolled up to him. The man said he was walking southward on the sidewalk between Fowler Road and Whitmore Avenue when the car pulled up next to him and the passenger said, "Hey, what are you up to?" He heard two shots, one of which penetrated his left calf. The vehicle then sped off southbound on Mitchell Road and turned westbound onto Joy Avenue.

Police believe the weapon was a .22 caliber handgun.

The victim said he did not know the suspects and does not have any issues with anyone.

No further vehicle or suspect description was provided. Anyone who has information regarding the shooting is urged to call Ceres Police Detectives at 538-5672.
