Mom arrested after impeding officer investigation

The mother of children frightened over her alleged irrational behavior was arrested Saturday evening in the 3300 block of Buenaventura Drive in southwest Ceres.

Dispatchers received a call at 4:45 p.m. about an irrational acting Anna Figueroa, 39, of Ceres. Officers responded to the residence and recognized it for problems in recent weeks. Officers found three children aged 8 to 12 who appeared to be afraid of their mother. When the officers tried to interview the kids Figueroa, 39, of Ceres, interrupted the investigation and appeared to be intimidating the children as the officer took their statements. Figueroa was arrested for obstructing or delaying an officer, possession of methamphetamine and child abuse.

The three children were released to their father and Child Protective Services was notified.
