Five charges await Ricky Vaughn, 60, of Modesto, who was observed sitting in a stolen car Sunday evening.

At 10:30 p.m. Officer Justin Canatsy was patrolling in the area of Bystrum and River roads when he saw a tan 1997 Honda Accord with a man sitting behind the wheel. When he ran the plates it proved to be stolen out of Turlock. Officer Canatsy detained Vaughn, who was released from state prison on the Post Release Controlled Supervision program endorsed by Gov. Jerry Brown. During search of the car it was learned that Vaughn had a large collection of more than 20 shaved vehicle keys, drug paraphernalia and heroin.

Vaughn was arrested and charged with auto theft, possession burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin, possession of stolen property and committing a crime while on PRCS.
