A 33-year-old Ceres resident was shot to death during a late evening fight at Runaround Sue's Bar on Mitchell Road.

Derrick Farrow, 33 of Ceres, was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound at Memorial Medical Center shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday.

Ceres Police Sgt. Danny Vierra said the shooting began with a fight at approximately 10:30 p.m. According to witnesses, Farrow was one of several patrons involved in a physical altercation inside the bar. The fight moved outside where Farrow was shot and fatally wounded.

Officers arrived on scene and found Farrow lying in front of the business mortally wounded. Firefighters and American Medical Response paramedics arrived within minutes and transported him to Memorial Medical Center.

Ceres Police Detectives are in the process of interviewing patrons of the establishment during the time of the incident. Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jose Berber said that the investigation is complex because of the number of witnesses that are being interviewed.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Ceres Police Detective Arthur Hively at 538-5728 or Ceres Police Dispatch Center at 538-5712.
