Ceres Police are investigating the shooting of a man involved in a physical fight on Lupin Lane on Saturday evening, Jan. 25.

Numerous citizens called 9-1-1 at 5:46 p.m. about a fight in front of 1813 Lupin Lane with shots fired. As officers were en route dispatchers received numerous calls from the surrounding neighborhood of a man running around covered in blood trying to get into houses.

Officers found a large crowd gathered at 3205 Heather Lane with people saying a Hispanic man, bleeding from the face and carrying a large metal pipe, trying to get in their garage. They said he appeared scared and was looking for a place to hide. He was last seen running southbound from Heather Lane. Officers traced blood drops to 1813 Lupin Lane where they encountered multiple people. A fight involving several people had occurred with one of the combatants retrieving a handgun from a car and walking into the garage to shoot another male in the leg. They learned the homeowner was driving that victim to a hospital for treatment. A short time later the victim showed up at Memorial Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the shin which was not life threatening. By the time officers drove to the hospital, the victim had already left.

Police are investigating and hoping to make an arrest.
