In what proved to be a busy day for Ceres Police Department apprehending drunken drivers, a 32-year-old Modesto man started the trend early Sunday.
At 1:28 a.m., Officer Aaron Pinon was in the area of Service and Blaker roads when he spotted a white Ford F-250 pickup being driven at a high rate of speed eastbound on Service Road. Officer Pinon caught up to the pickup and noticed the driver was failing to stay within his lane and was still speeding.
Officer Pinon stopped driver Emilio Barrera, 32, of Modesto, at the Chevron gas station at 3000 Service Road. Barrera appeared to be drunk and failed a field sobriety test. A breathalyzer test revealed he was twice the legal limit to safely drive a motor vehicle.
Barrera, who had a suspended/revoked driver’s license for DUI, was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for the new DUI.
