Tossing trash out of the car window in front of an officer Saturday afternoon was the undoing of a 43-year-old Ceres man who was transporting methamphetamine and scales.

Officer Matt Vierra was patrolling the parking lot of the AM/PM gas station at 1700 Hatch Road at 3:41 p.m. when he watched Daniel Foletta throw trash out the window of his Dodge Challenger and made a stop for littering. During a search of the car, officers found a large amount of methamphetamine and items associated with the sales of methamphetamine, including scales and baggies.

Foletta was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sales, driving on a suspended license for DUI and littering and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
