One arrested in home invasion robbery
Ceres Cop Car

Police arrested one man and are searching for a second who allegedly entered a home on Pleasant Avenue and committed a robbery of a cell phone.

Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Pleasant Avenue at 4:12 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21. A man and woman at the apartment who were bleeding from the assault told police that two men knocked on the door and forced their way inside. The woman was knocked to floor and the pair were assaulted with fists. The two suspects allegedly took the man's cell phone and left in a Dodge Charger. A partial license plate number was given to police.

While officers were investigating, a report came in about a fight in the intersection at Blaker and Hackett roads. Officers responded and found that the fight included occupants from the Dodge Charger. Police saw the Charger as it was turning right from Hackett onto Central Avenue. Driving the car was a woman who said she was the girlfriend of home invasion suspect Fernando Magana, 27, of Modesto. Magana was later found by another officer and booked for home invasion and battery.

Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. James Yandell said the fight in the street appeared to be in retribution to the home invasion but was unsure of the connection.

The incident is still being investigated. Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Bryan Ferreira at 538-5616.
