Two young Modesto women were arrested and charged with committing a strong arm robbery on Monday, May 18 after they assaulted a loss prevention officer at Cost Less Foods on Hatch Road following an interrupted theft of $68 worth of booze.

The crime occurred at 6:24 p.m. when Lizette Perez, 24, and Daisy Jacuinde, 26, left the store at 1610 Hatch Road without paying for two 30-packs of Budweiser and two bottles of Amsterdam Vodka. A male store loss prevention officer grabbed to stop the cart, and Perez took a swing at him but missed. Jacuinde then struck him three times in the face. Perez then allegedly grabbed the beer and tried to run but didn't get far as store employees assisted and detained her. The officer grabbed Jacuinde and held her until police arrived.

Both Perez and Jacuinde were charged with strong armed robbery.
