A baby shower held Saturday evening in the 2500 block of Mauna Kea Drive turned scary when a 21-year-old Empire man and 21-year-old Ceres man engaged in an argument and both aimed a gun while they threatened party goers.

Ceres Police arrested both men as the result of the 5:05 p.m. call to 911.

Officer Matthew Myers and Officer Jeremy Caron were dispatched to the area of 1800 block of Moffett Road for two males in an argument and one displaying a firearm. Multiple callers reported the incident and gave descriptions of the men. The officers found a group following the two suspects on foot in the street. The crowd pointed out the two men who were detained at gunpoint.

Police found a gun on Peter Cabuena, 21, of Empire. That gun was reportedly stolen in Sonora.

Police said the man he was arguing with, Alexander Rinconescarcega, 21, of Ceres, also had pointed the firearm at people at the party.

Both Cabuena and Rinconescarcega were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. Cabuena was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, making terrorist threats and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Rinconescarcega faces charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and a felony probation violation.
